My father’s blood glucose level went from 570 to 115 in just a few days. In this article, I require you to read from start to finish. Please do not skip any information to better understand what this is all about. I am not a doctor or expert in diabetes management, however, I aim to help as many people as possible by sharing my experience that saved my father’s life.
Quick background about me:
-I am a nurse by profession.
-My father has type 2 diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, with no history of stroke.
-As of November 2021, he is 71 years old (born in 1950).
-As far as I can recall, my mother told me that my father began experiencing some symptoms of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) while I was battling COVID (2.5 months ago). She did not tell in detail what was going on with my dad since she did not want me to worry a lot. I was sick of COVID at the time, so I can’t blame her though.
-This whole situation happened so fast during the pandemic so to make the long story short, we could not bring my father to the hospital, and since I have recovered from the infection — I decided to go home to my parents to take care of my father.
-We had to deal with his illness on our own, so I have tried several ways to alleviate my father’s sufferings and miraculously, one thing that’s worked wonders for him was the juice I made. Please keep reading to make sure you don’t miss anything.
-Just to clarify, my father did not use insulin to lower his high blood sugar.
His symptoms were the following:
-Extreme thirst
-Extreme tiredness
-Less responsive
-Confusion
-Frequent urination
-Blurred vision
-Irritability
-Stubborn cough (combination of both dry and productive)
His vital signs were unstable:
Mainly ..
BP: 110/70 mmHg
PR: 140 bpm
RR: 24, 14, 16,
O2 Saturation: 88, 90, 92, 94
Temperature: 37-39 degree Celsius
Recently, my father’s vital signs are the following:
BP: 120/90 mmHg
PR: 104 bpm
RR: 16
O2 Saturation: 95-97%
Temperature: 36.5-37
The highest blood sugar that we have taken so far was 570 and the lowest was 115 (as of November 10, 2021 before breakfast). His lowest oxygen saturation was 88%. Now, it has been consistently at 95-96%.
Note: Normal blood sugar for adults is less than 140 and normal oxygen saturation is 95-100%. Please search more information for comparison or to better educate yourself about this topic.
There are times where he can still get up and walk on his own, but oftentimes, he needs 1 to 2 persons to assist him coz he is very frail and may collapse anytime.
We have to put diaper on him coz there were times when he can no longer go to the restroom and we sometimes encourage him to defecate and urinate on it. Though my father lost so much weight, none of us can confidently bear his weight when he cannot manage to walk. I bought a bedside toilet for him which is really a huge help.
What I Think Is The Cause Of All This:
First of, my father is an elderly man who has underlying illnesses that were taken for granted. He is hypertensive and diabetic for as long as I can remember and probably even when I was not born yet.
He eats food indiscriminately. He is also a smoker. Though he stopped smoking for many years, there were times where he secretly lights up a cigarette.
I mentioned smoking coz when my father got sick, one thing that he struggled with was coughing. That’s when I suspected that he might have pneumonia or COPD. Through the help of my friend who happens to be a fantastic nurse, she helped me get a prescription medication for my father to treat or alleviate the cough since we could send him to the hospital due to the pandemic — it did work coz now he does not have that agonizing cough anymore. Though he still coughs sometimes, it is way better than before.
My father has a maintenance for his diabetes and what I know is that he has been using the same drug for many years.
What I Think My Father Could Have Done To Prevent This:
-He could have been more disciplined with his lifestyle.
-He could have maintained a diet suitable for his condition which is to not eat anything that is sugary or starchy or at least limit his intake.
-He could have exercised regularly.
-He could have changed his maintenance or see a doctor for advice.
-He could have skipped all those birthdays and fiesta celebrations where foods served were mainly unhealthy stuff.
-He could have monitored his blood sugar especially when he started feeling unwell.
-He could have been committed to quitting smoking 100%.
-He could have listened to me.
Though Type 2 Diabetes is preventable and manageable, it is only easy to say than done. It is important to remain forbearing or sympathetic rather than blame the sick.
We all love to eat anything we feel like it. It is often tempting to eat stuff that we see in front of us regardless if it is not good for our health — we keep on repeating the bad habits.
In reality, human beings in general are inclined to do things that are not good for their body and it is no surprise that elderly people like my father is one of the many who care less about the impact of their lifestyle to their future health.
”You will reap what you sow.”
The condition of my father is an absolute reflection of what I should be mindful for early on in my life — I do not want to be in his position 30 to 50 years from now.
When my father’s blood sugar was at >400, that was when he began showing signs of diabetic coma: confusion or disorientation, blurry vision, slurred speech, incontinence, among other things.
Worst Case Scenario Of A Diabetic:
-Becomes dependent to family members
-Cannot walk properly or worst, cannot walk at all
-Though patient shows ability to get up on his own, appears frail and may collapse anytime
-Vital signs are unstable
-No appetite and often feels nauseated
-Might have bed sores due to immobility (especially when not position properly or unable to change position every 2 hours)
-Very irritable or sensitive about everything
-Depressed
-Insomnia
How To Prevent Diabetic Coma?
-BE RESPONSIBLE AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH AND WELL BEING. SO IF YOU THINK THAT WHAT YOU ARE EATING/DRINKING IS WRONG OR NOT HELPING YOUR BODY, THEN UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, DO NOT DO IT.
Regardless if you are only taking a small portion of food that (you know) is not helping your body, if it happens often then you will suffer the consequences once your body suddenly shuts down.

Lower Your Blood Sugar Fast With This Natural Remedy
(I Personally Used This Formula For My Diabetic Father And It Worked)
Ingredients:
-ampalaya or bitter gourd
-unripened papaya or green papaya
-orange
Note:
50% bitter gourd
30% unripened papaya
20% orange (squeezed real orange juice)
If no orange fruit, add water instead, then use a blender to mix them altogether.
Instructions:
-Wash ingredients properly
-Remove all the seeds of ampalaya, papaya, and oranges
-No need to peel off the ampalaya skin
-Peel off the papaya skin
-Extract the juice from the orange fruit
-Blend all ingredients: ampalaya, unripened papaya, real orange juice (or drinking water if you have no orange)
*Strain or filter the mixture after blending to get a ‘juice’ consistency. If not strained, it will look like a ‘shake’ beverage wherein the consistency is thick — making it more difficult to swallow (since it is pungent).
*If blood sugar is above 500, drink 1/4 cup (59 ml or 4 tablespoons) after lunch or dinner, (while you continue taking your maintenance meds), then take your blood sugar the following morning or before breakfast.
*It’s vital that you check your blood sugar the next morning that way you can monitor if there’s really a progress or whatnot. Continue doing so after you reached the normal level which is less than 140.
*Drink once a day when needed or only when sugar is high
*You will notice that after drinking a 1/4 cup of juice, the reduction of your sugar will be really huge — like a hundred or more. This is why it is crucial to monitor your blood glucose levels so that you know exactly when to stop drinking it.
Here’s a sample scenario: (Assuming a person’s blood sugar is 550 BEFORE drinking the juice..)
Day 1: Drinks 1/4 cup of juice after lunch
Day 2: Checks the blood sugar before breakfast using a glucometer; result is 400 (therefore the deduction was 150 so watch out for it!); drinks 1/4 cup of juice after lunch..
Day 3: Checks blood sugar before breakfast ; result is 270 (deduction was 130); drinks 1/4 cup of juice after lunch..
Day 4: Checks blood sugar before breakfast ; result is 155 (deduction was 115); IT’S TIME TO STOP DRINKING THE JUICE OR LIMIT YOUR INTAKE INTO A HALF TEASPOON (IF YOU HAVE NO MAINTENANCE MEDS)
Day 5: Check blood sugar before breakfast to see if you need more adjustments to your diet, diabetes management, medication or overall lifestyle
IMPORTANT NOTE:
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE A GLUCOMETER TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS WHOLE PROCESS AND MAKE APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENTS TO WHAT YOU ARE EATING OR INGESTING. THOUGH THE JUICE MIXTURE ARE NATURAL INGREDIENTS, IT IS STILL CRUCIAL TO CHECK YOUR BLOOD SUGAR TO PREVENT HYPOGLYCEMIA OR SUDDEN DROP OF BLOOD SUGAR THAT IS BELOW THE NORMAL RANGE.
Again: Check your blood sugar and stop drinking the juice when you reached around 100.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
THIS JUICE MIXTURE IS VERY EFFECTIVE BUT CAN BE DETRIMENTAL IF NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBLY OR CAUTIOUSLY. IF YOUR BLOOD SUGAR DROPS TO AROUND 100, STOP DRINKING THE JUICE IMMEDIATELY. INSTEAD, CONTINUE WITH YOUR MAINTENANCE MEDICATION ONLY (IF YOU HAVE). I ALSO STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF YOUR HEALTH AND SEEK ADVISE ABOUT HOW YOU’LL GO ABOUT YOUR MAINTENANCE ONCE YOUR SUGAR IS BELOW 100. YOUR DOCTOR MIGHT ADVISE YOU TO STOP TAKING IT FOR A WHILE OR LIMIT YOUR MEDICATION DOSAGE. IT’S CRUCIAL TO SEEK EXPERT’S ADVICE ALL THE TIME.
WHAT WE WANT TO AVOID HERE IS HYPOGLYCEMIA OR LOW BLOOD SUGAR COZ WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT IS LIFE-THREATENING AND MAY CAUSE SUDDEN COMA. THIS IS WHY YOU REALLY HAVE TO MONITOR YOUR BLOOD SUGAR USING A GLUCOMETER.
